A Quick Sharp Ltd t/a AQS Environmental Solutions and AQS Environmental Solutions N.I. Ltd are delighted to announce that we have been awarded accreditation for ISO 9001:2000, Quality Management System. This accreditation has resulted in a number of benefits for both companies.

We have improved on service reliability,  gained better process control, improved documentation of processes and have gained greater employee quality awareness throughout the organisations.

 The ISO certification reflects the evolution of AQS (ROI) & AQS N.I. as one of the leading services companies within the environmental sector. We also intend on implementing ISO 18000, Occupational Health & Safety Management System over the coming months.

We have relocated from our old premises in Urlingford, Co Kilkenny to our new HQ in Archerstown, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. This facility has state of the art offices and extensive warehousing and hard standing areas, on a site of approximately eight industrially zoned acres.
Our new HQ is located at the entrance to a 60 acre Industrial Estate, which is about to be developed by the Shannon Development Authority. The new Dublin Cork motorway will pass within 2 miles of the site, giving easy nationwide access. The new HQ also offers extensive development potential, with approximately 4 acres of unused grassland on the site, ideal for the future development of the Groupʼsheadquarters. The site is recognised by the IDA, Thurles Chamber of Commerce and the National Development Plan as an industrial and commercial hub for Thurles.
This move is designed to provide us with the capacity needed for our expansion program. We anticipate the creation of over 100 jobs over the next 18 months atthis facility, which will have a profound economic benefi t to the locality.

On the 1st of January 2008 AQS Environmental Solutions provider of next generation environmental solutions to the industrial, commercial and domestic markets have expanded into the Northern Irish market with the creation of its AQS N.I. division and the opening of its new Headquarters in Magherafelt.
The AQS N.I. division will operate a large variety of services- ranging from Concrete Injection, Pump Station Maintenance, Vacuum Excavation, Jetting Services, Mobile Dewatering, CCTV Inspection, Drain rehabilitation and also a number of specialised services.

Commenting on the expansion, Billy Campbell, Sales Manager, AQS Environmental Solutions N.I. said “The development of AQS N.I. and our move into the environmental services market in Northern Ireland is a strategic one for AQS and will deliver All-Ireland coverage for our expanding range of services. This expansion, together with the exponential growth we have been experiencing across our markets in the South, will underpin the company’s vision of becoming the environmental and industrial services provider of choice for the Semi-State, Commercial and Domestic sectors.

The companies within the Arlo Group, which head quarters are based in Thurles Co. Tipperary, include AQS Environmental Solutions and AQS Environmental Services N.I., a provider of next generation environmental solutions to the national, industrial, commercial and domestic markets.

 Acorn Recycling, a waste management and environmental consultancy specialising in the handling and treatment of all organic wastes and JHL Sales, a provider of specialised machinery to the environmental sectors in Ireland and the UK. 

In October 2007, A Quick Sharp Ltd. was re-branded as AQS Environmental Solutions.This re-brand is both timely and appropriate as AQS Environmental Solutions reflects the evolution of the company from a small drain cleaning and Maintenance Company, into a proven and trusted provider of a broad range of environmental services and solutions to the national market. AQS Environmental Solutions also represents a clear and strong parent brand for our company to communicate the spectrum of leading edge products and services, facilitated by the best available technology, we offer to our valuable customers.You will notice our new logo and look out for our re-branded fleet of trucks and machinery. In addition, as befits a company of our current scale and expertise, we plan over the next 12 months to expand our profile and awareness in the national marketplace.

Stanley O’Reilly has been appointed to the position of Managing Director of AQS Environmental Solutions and formally commenced his new role on the 1st of September 2007. Stan has been with AQS for approximately 18 months, and has been promoted from the position of Projects Director. Due to the departmentalisation of our business, each department manager now effectively manages his own projects. This has enabled Stan to concentrate on the overall management of the business. From a training perspective, Stan has a Masters in Environmental Science, eight years industry experience and has recently completed a module in Financial Management in WIT.

Stan takes over the Managing Director role from co-founder Liam Kearney. This appointment will allow Liam to focus on the development of the Arlo Group companies, potential acquisitions and the development of affi liate company, JHL Sales. It also enables co-founder and Group Operations Director Donal Kearney to bed in new facilities, including our new HQ at Archerstown, and a host of new projects commencing at our subsidiary company, Acorn Recycling.
